Now that you know what they are, here are some tips to help you resist impulse buying and improve your budgeting methods.

· Leave your credit card at home; the less temptation, the better.

· If you see something you want, look at your budget first. If you can, save the money rather than use a credit card.

· Have a list of items that you intend to buy and stick to it.

· Compare prices between sellers. You may find that someone is selling an item at 10% off and another seller is selling the same thing at a lower price and they're not having a sale.

· Examine the goods carefully. Are they exactly what you want. Sometimes packaging can mislead you about the actual quantity supplied.

Make a policy to pay only with cash. If you don’t have the discipline, credit cards can really get you into debt fast. Don’t take any cards with you and pay for everything with cash whenever possible.
